Presidential Regulation On Alcohol Investment Revoked, PA 212 Appreciated Jokowi, Postponed Demo

JAKARTA - The 212 Alumni Brotherhood (PA 212) has postponed its plan to hold a large-scale demonstration related to the attachment to Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 10 of 2021 regarding the permit to open liquor investment. The reason is that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has withdrawn the Presidential Decree attachment.

"The Perpres has already been revoked so the action is postponed while looking at developments in the field," said PA 212 Chairman Slamet Ma'arif to VOI, Tuesday, March 2.

But he made sure, PA 212 will continue to supervise developments regarding the Presidential Regulation.

"We will reconsider the next step," he said.

"Because the attachment is only revoked," continued Ma'arif.

On the other hand, Slamet Ma'arif appreciated Jokowi's decision to revoke the Presidential Decree attachment. Jokowi is considered to have listened to criticism from the public.

"We appreciate the government for responding to complaints and suggestions from ulama and Islamic mass organizations, we appreciate it," he said.

Previously it was reported, the 212 Alumni Brotherhood (PA 212) was planning to hold a large-scale demonstration as a form of rejection of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 10 of 2021 regarding the permit to open liquor investment.

Deputy Secretary General PA 212 Novel Bamukmin confirmed the demonstration. However, until now he has not confirmed the timing of the demonstration.

"It is true, and until now we are still in discussion," said Novel.

Likewise, PA 212 Chairperson Slamet Ma'arif also agreed with the plan to hold a large-scale demonstration against the Perpres. But that is not the first step taken. Because, PA 212 will prioritize auditions.

"We will have an audience with the DPR and the government first. If the government continues to insist on investing and legalizing alcohol in the territory of the Republic of Indonesia and the DPR is also in tune with the government, I will invite Muslims, especially Alumni 212 to go back to the streets on a large scale to save the nation's children. and NKRI, "he explained.
