The Replacement For Artidjo Alkostar At The KPK Is In Jokowi's Hands

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that the replacement of Artidjo Alkostar as a member of the KPK Supervisory Board is in the hands of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

Deputy Chairperson of the Corruption Eradication Commission Nurul Ghufron explained that the mechanism for replacing KPK members is regulated in Government Regulation Number 4 of 2020 concerning Procedures for Appointing the Chairperson and Members of the KPK Supervisory Board.

According to him, Article 12 paragraph (1) letter a of the PP explains that the Chairman and Members of Dewas dismissed if they died. Then, Article 15 paragraph (2) of the same rule states that for the vacant position of a member of Dewas, the Chairman of Dewas must submit it to the President no later than 3 days.

Ghufron said the Chairperson and Members of Dewas for the 2019-2023 period were appointed and appointed for the first time by the President. This is stipulated in Law Number 19 of 2019 concerning the KPK. Thus, Artidjo's replacement will be appointed by the President.

"From the description above, the change between members of the KPK Supervisory Board is appointed and appointed by the President," he said in a written statement to reporters, Tuesday, March 2.

While confirmed separately, KPK chairman Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean stated that he had sent a letter to President Jokowi. The delivered letter was sent today.

As previously reported, Artidjo Alkostar died on Sunday, February 28. He breathed his last at the age of 72.

The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD said Artidjo Alkostar died of two diseases. "He died of heart and lung disease," said Mahfud.
