JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata said that his party has formed two task forces to search for suspects in corruption cases who are fugitives, including former PDI-P candidate Harun Masiku.

It's just that, until now the task force has not succeeded in arresting fugitive Harun Masiku, the suspect who gave bribes to former General Election Commission (KPU) Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan.

"We have formed two task forces, because we are not only looking for Harun Masiku but there are others. We are still trying to find those concerned, we have even involved the police," Alexander told reporters at the Red and White KPK building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, March 2.

To make the search for Harun easier, the KPK asked the public who knew the whereabouts of the fugitive to report him.

"If there are people who know that we have opened a reporting contact at the KPK. For those who know, please report," he said.

Although he does not know his whereabouts, Alex assesses that the possibility of Harun running abroad is very small. This is because the KPK has taken precautions abroad. Alex is sure that Harun Masiku is still in Indonesia, but his whereabouts are not yet known.

"We believe that the person concerned is still in the country, if the system works well. The official exits are already closed. Unless he then exits through undetected doors like a boat, right? If he passes through an official gate guarded by immigration, will not pass, "he said.

Previously reported, former PDI Perjuangan legislative candidate Harun Masiku who became a bribe for Deputy Commissioner of the General Election Commission (KPU) Wahyu Setiawan regarding the interim replacement (PAW) of members of the Indonesian Parliament, is still at large since the beginning of last year until now.

As of now, Harun has been a fugitive from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for a year and it is still unclear where his whereabouts.

This case originated from a hand-catching operation (OTT) that took place on January 8. During the silent operation, a number of people were arrested including the recipient of bribes, namely Wahyu Setiawan and his confidant who is a member of the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) Agustiani Tio Fridelina.

Meanwhile, Harun as the bribe giver was reported to have gone abroad since before the OTT was held or on January 6 he had already gone to Singapore.

Later, there was confusion that said Harun had returned to Indonesia on January 7 and was confirmed by the Directorate General of Immigration. The system error was the reason why he was not detected as having returned to his homeland.

Since then, Wahyu's bribe has disappeared as if he was swallowed up by the earth and has made the KPK in the spotlight because until now they have not been able to arrest him.
