Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution Holds Homecoming Free To 12 Regions In North Sumatra

The Department of Transportation (Dishub) of Medan City, North Sumatra (North Sumatra), held a free homecoming program to welcome Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri to 12 districts/cities in North Sumatra.

"This program is a form of the Mayor of Medan's concern for people who travel back and forth to celebrate Eid al-Fitr in their hometowns," said Head of the Medan City Transportation Agency Iswar Lubis in Medan, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, March 14.

He explained, like in previous years for this year the Medan City Government provided seats for as many as 6,000 travelers.

The 12 destination regencies/cities in North Sumatra include Pakpak Bharat, Sidikalang, Tarutung, Sibolga, Rantau Prapat, Pinang City, Sibuhuan, Gunung Tua, Siringok, Padangsidimpuan, Panyabungan and Christmas.

Meanwhile, the number of fleets prepared by the Medan City Government was 179 buses consisting of 121 large buses and 58 medium-sized buses.

"Learning from experience, several roads in a number of districts/cities in North Sumatra cannot be crossed by large buses. We present a number of large buses serving travelers," he explained.

Iswar also explained that people who want to take part in the free homecoming program can register on March 18-22, 2024, in three locations.

Registration locations are the Medan City Transportation Service office, Medan Amplas Motor Vehicle Testing (PKB), and Medan Ahmad Yani Park from 9.00 WIB to 17:00 WIB.

"This year's registration is only opened offline or manually. It was not done online, like last year. Because last year there was a double registration of 1,200 travelers," he said.

For registration requirements, it does not have to be the owner of the Medan ID card, but the goal must be as determined. Prospective travelers also don't have to all register, but simply be represented by one person or another.

"We invite you to register, if there is a village association that wants to go home together. We are also trying to close the potential for brokers," said Iswar.

After the registration period, his party will verify prospective travelers based on their objectives. On March 25 - 27, 2024, prospective travelers can pick up tickets at the Taman Ahmad Yani Medan post at 8.00 WIB - 15.00 WIB.

"Prospective travelers will depart from April 6 to 8, 2024 at around 14.00 WIB on Jalan Masjid Raya. This departure will be released by Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution," said Iswar again.
