Police Arrest 8 Murderers In Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan, The Motive Is Blind Jealousy

The Tanah Bumbu Police, South Kalimantan, arrested eight perpetrators of beatings and killings from Martapura, Banjar Regency against two residents of Tanah Bumbu, namely AD (34) who suffered serious injuries and MRK (31) to death.

"The eight perpetrators are a combination of wild children from Martapura. One of them is a minor," said Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tanah Bumbu Police, AKP Agung Kurnia Putra, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, March 14.

Agung said the murder case was motivated by jealousy or romance against two injured and died.

The eight perpetrators had the initials TAN (18), MJ (22), F (17), MS (26) CYP (21), MRS (17), AS (20), and a woman DL (18).

The first beating against AD took place at Taman Education Park, Sejahtera Village, Simpang Empat District on Saturday (9/3) at around 00.30 WITA.

The chronology of the incident began when the joint group from Martapura hung out and drank liquor at Taman Education Park.

At that time, one of the perpetrators, a woman, called DL to call AD who was passing in front of the group, then the AD victim responded to DL's call.

The suspect TAN, who was under the influence of alcohol, was jealous because he thought the victim had disturbed DL, so that TAN and seven other perpetrators ganged up on the victim until a stabbing took place using a badik knife stored in the waist of one of the perpetrators.

After beating, all the perpetrators immediately fled to Satui District and the victim was left covered in blood.

"The victim was successfully rushed by local residents to the hospital for medical assistance," said Agung.

Agung explained that all the suspected perpetrators fled to Satui District, Tanah Bumbu Regency.

Then, the perpetrators also ganged up on the MRK victim to death with the same mode on Sunday (10/3) at around 02.30 WITA.

"Their mode is the same, all the perpetrators are burning with jealousy and are affected by alcohol," said Agung.

Now, investigators have named the eight people as suspects in connection with the beating of someone who resulted in serious injuries and death as referred to in Article 170 paragraph 2 of the 2nd Criminal Code with the threat of imprisonment for a maximum of nine years.

"Meanwhile, the criminal act of beatings that result in a person's death as referred to in Article 170 paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code carries a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison," said Agung.
