DKI Jakarta's RTH Target Is Still Poor, Out Of The 30 Percent Of The Mandate Of The Law, It Turns Out That DKI Baru Has 9.4 Percent

JAKARTA - Commission D DPRD DKI has asked the DKI Provincial Government to increase the expansion of green open space (RTH) in the capital city. This is because the condition of green open space in Jakarta is still far from the required target.

In Law Number 26 of 2007 concerning Spatial Planning, it takes 30 percent of green open space, consisting of 20 percent of public green open space and 10 percent of private green open space.

Unfortunately, at this time, green open space in DKI has only reached 9.4 percent of the total area of the capital city.

"This is very important, because in Law Number 26 of 2007 concerning Spatial Planning, the proportion of green open space in each city must have at least 30 percent of the total area of the city, while we have only reached 9.4 percent," said the Chairman of Commission D DPRD DKI. Ida Mahampang in her statement, was quoted by VOI on Tuesday, March 2.

Deputy Chairperson of Commission D DPRD DKI Jakarta Nova Harivan Paloh continued, expansion through construction and structuring of green open space is needed in the current rainy season.

This is because green open space can accommodate rainwater and water delivery from the upstream, so it can be a solution to reducing flooding in Jakarta.

"We have to focus on this green open space according to the law, because our target of green open space must reach 30 percent, you know. I also believe that this can also be a solution to reduce floods, "said Nova.

Therefore, the DKI DPRD asked the City Park and Forest Service to prioritize the acquisition of RTH land in the 2021 budget year.

In response, the Head of the City Park and Forest Service, Suzi Marsitawati, explained that his party would continue to strive to maximize the development and arrangement of green open space in the nine cemeteries. The budget is IDR 23.9 billion with a total area of 3.97 hectares.

The expansion of RTH in East Jakarta is located at TPU Ceger, TPU Prumpung, TPU Kober Jatinegara, TPU Pondok Ranggon, and TPU Kampung Dukuh.

In the West Jakarta area, it is located in the Tegal Alur TPU and the Tegal Alur Heroes Cemetery, then in the South Jakarta area at the Serengseng Sawah TPU, and in the North Jakarta area at the Rorotan TPU.

"We make this RTH very concerned because our obligations in each city to prepare and have been mandated in the law. The nine TPUs are in East Jakarta, West Jakarta, South Jakarta and North Jakarta, "he said.
