Gerindra Encourages The Increase In The Threshold Of Parliament Above 4 Percent

JAKARTA - The Gerindra Party is pushing for an increase in the threshold for the DPR or parliamentary threshold (PT) above 4 percent.

Gerindra's attitude is different from the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) which ordered that the parliamentary threshold must be changed below 4 percent before the 2029 election.

"The threshold is now 4 percent, whether we want to increase it or not, we will review it later. In our opinion, it should be increased," said Muzani, Thursday, March 7.

The Deputy Chairperson of the MPR assessed that the parliamentary threshold was still needed for the simplification of political parties in the DPR.

"Our study says that simplification of political parties is needed. Therefore, the way or door is considered appropriate is the threshold. That is our thought," said Muzani.

Nevertheless, the chairman of the Gerindra faction said that his party still needed to discuss how many points are suitable for the parliamentary threshold with other political parties.

"The game is not certain. Later we will sit together on what percentage is right to increase political parties, because if not, there will be more parties and so on but try to check again," explained Muzani.
