The Vice President EMPHASIZED That The Discourse Of BOS Funds For Free Lunch Is Not A Government Decree

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin stated that the use of the School Operational Assistance Fund (BOS) for the Free Lunch Program was not a decision set by the current government.

"I think that might just arise, not from the government's decision to make this. I don't think so. The term is new that it needs to be anticipated, in general," said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, March 7.

Vice President Ma'ruf explained that the free lunch program run by the government would then use the 2025 State Budget.

However, the preparation of the 2025 State Budget is carried out by the current government.

According to the Vice President, President Jokowi has not specifically set a free lunch program budget, let alone a source of funds for the implementation of the program.

The Vice President assessed that the discourse on using BOS funds for the free lunch program emerged as a form of government anticipation of further government programs.

"This government anticipates anything that becomes a program rather than the upcoming government. That will only be included later, it is not specific yet," said Vice President Ma'ruf.

Previously, the Deputy for Food and Agribusiness Coordination of the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, Dida Karbera, clarified that the use of School Operational Assistance Funds (BOS) for the Free Lunch Program was still just a proposal.

In addition to using BOS Funds, he also said that the news of the use of the budget from energy subsidies to finance the Free Lunch Program is also still only an option to consider.

"In terms of government, not yet, that's just talks that allow the budget from there. We haven't reviewed it yet," said Dida in Jakarta, Wednesday (6/3).

In the simulation of the Free Lunch Program which was held at SMP Negeri 2 Curug, Tangerang Regency, Thursday (29/2), the program uses a budget of IDR 15,000 per child from the Tangerang Regency Government.

However, Dida explained that the nominal budget could still change at any time by adjusting the economic conditions of each region.
