Two Hanyut Children In Mampang River: One Victim Found Dead, Others In Search

The joint SAR team found the body of a child named April (14) who was swept away in Mampang River, South Jakarta, and officers are still looking for one other victim.

"The first victim was found today at 08.55 WIB," said Mampang Prapatan Police Chief, South Jakarta Police Commissioner David Yunior Kanito in Jakarta, Sunday (3/3).

He said that the child's body was found when a joint SAR team from the TNI, Polri, BPBD, Sub-dept. of the Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat), residents and others combed the Mampang River on Sunday morning.

The victim on behalf of April (14) was found by the joint SAR Team dead. "The number of victims was found and the location was washed away about one kilometer," he said, quoted by Antara.

The joint SAR team is still looking for another child who has not been found, after being swept away on Saturday (2/3) around 14.00 WIB. "The team is still looking for other victims who have not been found," he said.

Previously, Kanito explained the chronology of the drift of two children named Fais (15), and April (14). The incident began with seven children playing in the Mampang River on Saturday around 14.00 WIB.

Of the seven children, six of them took a bath in Kali Mampang. Two children were swept away by the current and his friends tried to save them by holding their hands together, but because the current was fast.

"Children who tried to help on behalf of Ramdan (16) who are currently being treated for difficulty breathing," he said, adding that the other five were declared safe from the disaster.
