COVID-19 Update As Of February 28: 5,560 New Positive Cases

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) has released data on developments in handling COVID-19. Based on the results of the examination of 35,434 specimens, 5,560 new positive cases were found.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 1,334,634 people," as quoted from the Ministry of Health data, Sunday, February 28.

For the cured cases also experienced additions. A total of 6,649 cases are found per day. That way, the cumulative total will be 1,142,703 people who have recovered from COVID-19. Meanwhile, the number of death cases increased by 185 to become 36,166 people.

On the other hand, for provincial data with the highest number of additional positive cases are in DKI Jakarta. Based on data, 2,098 people tested positive for COVID-19. So that the total residents who have been infected in the capital reach 339,735 people.

Then, other provinces with a high number of additional positive cases include West Java with 770 cases. Then, East Kalimantan 374 cases. Furthermore, Central Java with 327 cases, East Java with 324 cases, and Bali with 239 cases.

Meanwhile, the province with the most recovery cases was Central Java with 2,732 cases. Furthermore, DKI Jakarta with 609 cases, West Java with 534 cases, East Kalimantan with 465 cases, and East Java with 463 cases.

So far, 7 provinces have reported additional cases under 10, including Aceh, Riau Islands, Bengkulu, Southeast Sulawesi, and West Sulawesi. Meanwhile, there are 2 provinces without positive cases, namely, Maluku and North Maluku.

Furthermore, the number of specimens examined reached 10,799,191. In detail, 10,646,659 specimens were examined using real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 152,532 specimens using molecular rapid tests (TCM).

"The number of positive results per number of specimens examined (positivity rate) was 18.6 percent," he wrote.

For the number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, it was recorded at 71,668 people. Currently, 510 districts/cities from 34 provinces have COVID-19 cases.
