KPI Ubaidillah Chair Give Sanctions To A Number Of Broadcasting Institutions Related To The 2024 General Election

JAKARTA - The head of the Ubaidillah Central KPI gave warnings to a number of broadcasters such as television stations that were deemed to have violated broadcasting regulations related to the 2024 Presidential and Legislative Elections. One of the violations occurred when the television station broadcasted a political advertisement before the campaign period took place.

"Initially, political advertising was broadcast before the campaign period. We then gave warnings and sanctions to broadcasting the interests of the owner and his group," said Ubaidillah in chatting with Eddy Wijaya on the Edshare On podcast.

Although he did not specify the identity of the broadcasting institution in question, Gus Ubaid, Ubaidillah called, saying that KPI cannot deny that there are broadcasting institutions affiliated with political parties or certain pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates. But the most important thing, continued Ubaidillah, is that they should be able to produce broadcasts that are not one-sided about the 2024 election contestation. Must be given the same portion and balanced. This must be fulfilled," he said.

Therefore, Ubaidillah said, KPI cooperated with KPU, Bawaslu, and the Press Council to make a decree to strictly regulate political advertisements during the 2024 election campaign.

One of them is the maximum daily advertising limit of 10 spots with a maximum duration of 30 seconds for each election participant. Meanwhile, for radio each day, the maximum limit is 10 spots with a maximum duration of 60 seconds for each election participant. Alhamdulillah, broadcasting institutions follow suit. So we receive advertising reports that do not exceed the set duration.

In chatting with Eddy Wijaya on the Edshare On podcast, the Head of the Ubaidillah Central KPI also revealed the many complaints KPI received regarding quality shows. One of them is a television program that shows men who are like women.

The context of this complaint is not to let what is broadcast be imitated by children. Something negative is feared will have an impact in the future," said Gus Ubaid.

That is one of the reasons KPI then gave a warning to celebrity Ivan GUNawan. According to information, KPI reprimanded Ivan when appearing on one of the television programs on October 30, 2023. Ivan was deemed to have violated the Broadcasting Code of Conduct and Broadcast Program Standards (P3 and SPS) for wearing feminine clothing.

Ubaidillah said KPI had issued a circular to all television stations to show quality shows and did not have a negative impact on children. The Commission has even always warned that TV can comply with the circular. "So, not only yesterday (Ivan Gunawan), but previously there had also been similar broadcasts that were sanctioned," said Ubaidillah to Eddy Wijaya. (ADV)
