NTB Police Call The Burning Of Voice Letters At The Bima Parado TPS Not Related To The Presidential Election But The 2024 Legislative Election

The police have spoken about the incident of vandalism and burning ballot boxes at a polling station (TPS) in Parado District, Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

Head of Public Relations of the NTB Police, Kombes Pol. Rio Indra Lesmana said the incident that occurred on Wednesday, February 14 that night was not related to the 2024 presidential election but about the 2024 Legislative Election.

"So, what happened was not a matter of 01, 02, 03, but this is a matter of legislative elections, where the ballot boxes containing the voting results were burned," he said in Mataram, NTB, Monday, February 19, which was confiscated by Antara.

Rio added that the NTB Regional Police Chief (Kapolda) Inspector General of Police Raden Umar Faroq today reviewed the security situation in Bima Regency after the incident of vandalism and arson.

He said the activity was carried out by Umar Faroq along with a number of main NTB Regional Police officials, including the NTB Regional Supervisory Inspector (Irwasda), Head of the NTB Police Operations Bureau, Commander of the NTB Police Mobile Brigade Unit, and Head of the NTB Police Legal Division.

"The NTB Police Chief went to the field so that there would be no more turmoil there," he said.

Meanwhile, the NTB Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) on Monday 19 February officially announced 34 polling stations, including Parado District, Bima Regency, to be included in the re-voting list (PSU).

Of the 34 polling stations, there is one of the polling stations that is the location for the destruction and burning of ballot boxes, namely in Parado Rato Village.
