PDIP Ready To Be An Opposition, Observers Consider DNA If Megawati's Political Parties Lose In The Presidential Election

JAKATA - Political observer and Director of Indonesian Political Parameters (PPI), Adi Prayitno predicts that the PDI-P will become an opposition if it loses in the 2024 presidential election.

Adi assessed that PDIP will take a stand outside the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka's government when the KPU has been appointed as president and vice president-elect.

The reason, according to Adi, has become a habit of ingraining for PDIP to become an opposition if the candidate loses the election.

"The opposition PDIP DNA if it loses the election. That means, PDIP has great potential for exposure in the Prabowo-Gibran era," Adi said in Jakarta, Monday, February 19.

The opposition attitude, continued Adi, was strengthened by the statement by the Secretary General of PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto who emphasized that he would be outside the government in order to improve the quality of democracy.

"Hasto PDIP's statement is ready for the opposition to be an affirmation of PDIP, it seems that it is out of power in 2024," said Adi.

PDIP's attitude took an opposition stance, in line with the PKS which carried the candidate pair number 1. PKS suggested that the losing party build a healthy opposition.

Meanwhile, PKB and NasDem have not confirmed their stance on the temporary results of the 2024 presidential election vote. It is predicted that the two of them will join the government, especially the NasDem Chairman Surya Paloh, has already met President Joko Widodo, who is known to support Paslon number 2.
