Megawati Sindir Women Of The Uniform Taklim Council: Buy In Tanah Abang Rp600 Thousand, Should Be Given To Children

JAKARTA - The 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri, admitted that she was surprised by the habit of the taklim women who had to dress in uniform for every worship or recitation activity.

However, Megawati emphasized that this does not mean that she does not want the activities of the taklim assembly. He only highlighted the necessity to use uniforms on these women. This was conveyed at the commemoration of Isra Mi'raj Nabi Muhammad SAW and the 2024 Zayed Award presentation to Muhammadiyah and NU.

"Those are the women of the taklim assembly. So, all of them are dressed in uniforms. Well, I think this is logical, you know. Try, nothing, don't worry, 'oh, Megawati doesn't agree with the taklim assembly', No! I mean, I counted one uniform dress because I also joined the taklim assembly," said Megawati in the At-Taufiq Mosque hall, Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, Sunday, February 11.

Megawati then told about her experience following the activities of the taklim assembly in the past. At that time, President Soekarno's daughter was reluctant to make the uniform of the taklim assembly group she was participating in.

"I don't have to wear uniforms," said Megawati.

Megawati calculated that if each mother purchases uniforms for the pilgrimage, they must spend hundreds of thousands of rupiah.

"If possible, now buy it in Tanah Abang, maybe IDR 600 thousand. Shocked me. One (uniform cut), you know. The logic I use," said Megawati.

In fact, the Chairperson of the PDI-P is of the opinion that hundreds of thousands of rupiah should have been disbursed only for uniforms, which could be diverted for medical expenses to the education of their respective children.

"I'm thinking what it's really for? It should be given to children. Try thinking. How much did you beat the kids? How much is good education to? How much is good health to?" he explained.

In addition, continued Megawati, the money for the purchase of taklim women's uniforms can also be used to buy nutritional intake for children and pregnant women to prevent stunting.

"I've calculated, I'm a rational person. I told my mothers, try to make nutritious food, use a nutrition doctor, you know. I give one day Rp. 100,000 for 5 people, what can you do? Cook ma'am. It could be reduced, it could be up to Rp. 600 thousand only," explained Megawati.

"Wow, if this is given to children, mothers when they want to give birth, it is given good food. Just think about it. For now, stunting has not gone, you know, sir," he concluded.
