Iran Calls Israel Will Sink US In Rawa War'

JAKARTA - The Israeli government will sink Washington into a "warship" in the Middle East because Israel has so far failed to achieve its military operations in the Gaza Strip, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said.

"After four months of war, it is clear that Tel Aviv has not achieved any destination. Further support for (Israelian Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu by the United States will produce nothing but a clear failure. The Israeli regime made the US sink into a war swamp in the Middle East," Amirabdollahian said, quoted by the Tasnim news agency, upon arrival the Iranian Foreign Minister in Beirut.

Hamas has proposed a political normalization plan for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Iran's Foreign Minister continued.

He also urged the US not to support Israel in its crimes against the Gaza Strip.

On Friday, February 9, Amirabdollahian was making an official visit to Lebanon to discuss the situation in the Middle East, especially regarding the Palestinian-Israeli front.

On October 7, 2023, the Palestinian Hamas movement launched a large-scale rocket strike against Israel from Gaza and killed 1,200 people and kidnapped about 240 others.

Israel launched a counter-attack, ordered a total blockade of Gaza, and began a ground attack on Gaza with the aim of eliminating Hamas fighters and rescuing the hostages. More than 27,500 people have been killed so far in the Gaza Strip, the local government said.

On November 24, Qatar mediated a deal between Israel and Hamas over a temporary ceasefire and exchange of several detainees and hostages, as well as sending humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. The ceasefire has been extended several times and ended on December 1.

More than 100 hostages are believed to be still being held by Hamas in Gaza.
