Judged Unable To Lead Democrats, AHY Asked To Resign

JAKARTA - Chairman of the DPP Kader Muda Democrats (KMD) Aswin Ali Nasution asked Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) to resign as chairman of the Democratic Party. This is for the progress of the party bearing the mercy symbol.

"We respectfully ask Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono to resign," Aswin said during a press conference at Mega Kuningan, Jakarta, Thursday, February 25.

Thus, KMD supports the implementation of KLB to lower AHY's position in order to create a party that is more humanist, advanced and modern. He said the KMD had also asked several figures worthy of leading the Democratic party in facing the 2024 General Election.

Aswin assessed that the Democrat Party would be destroyed if it was still led by AHY due to a crisis of leadership and a crisis of confidence as well as the inability of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's son to become a Democratic chairman.

"We do not want to see the Democrat Party destroyed because it became the party of the SBY dynasty. It is enough that the DPC and DPD suffer from being extorted from the DPP," he said.

Although AHY refused to continue his reins of leadership due to family party reasons, in a written circular, the name of Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Party, Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono (Ibas), who is also AHY's younger brother, was named and proposed as general secretary (Sekjen).
