Tree Collapses Due To Heavy Rain Blocking Roads In South Lampung, Evacuation Completed For Over 1 Hour

SOUTH LAMPUNG - Fire and Rescue Service (Damkarmat) officers of South Lampung Regency evacuated a fallen tree blocking a road in Kedaton Village, Kalianda District.

Head of the Fire Department at the South Lampung Damkarmat Service, Rully Fikriansyah, said that his party deployed seven personnel to evacuate fallen trees in South Lampung.

"We have succeeded in evacuating fallen trees on the Kedaton Village cross road by deploying seven personnel," he said when contacted from the West Coast, Tuesday, February 6, as reported by Antara.

He said the tree trunk covered the road so that the route was hampered.

The process of evacuating the fallen tree, he continued, went smoothly and after officers cleared the road from the remaining tree branches, traffic flow returned to normal.

Rully explained that the chronology of the fallen tree incident began when a local resident reported a fallen tree due to high rainfall and strong winds.

"There was one resident who contacted Kalianda Post that a tree had fallen. Sigap, a member of the picket, rushed to leave using PPE (self-protective equipment) complete," he said.

Evacuation, he said, lasted approximately an hour and a half even though at that time it was still raining heavily, personnel continued to evacuate so that access roads could be passed.

"At around 15:00 WIB, we arrived at the location, then approximately one hour twenty minutes the evacuation of fallen trees was completed at 16:20 WIB," he concluded.
