Friday Morning, Jokowi Opened The Ansor GP Congress On The Pelni Ship

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) opened the XVI Congress of the Ansor Youth Movement (GP) at the Pelni Ship Passenger Terminal, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, Friday, February 2 morning.

"I have attended the congress or national deliberation (Munas) of youth organizations, but this is the first time I have seen the congress on board," said President Jokowi starting his remarks quoted by ANTARA.

According to the President, holding the congress which took place on the Pelni KM Kelud Ship was both a creative and innovative idea in order to find a different atmosphere.

The President stated that innovative ideas and creations are the keys to dealing with changes and disruptions that are currently sweeping the world.

"I appreciate the social and national roles of GP Ansor, especially in campaigning for religious moderation and guarding political democratization," he said.

Jokowi hopes that the XVI GP Ansor Congress, which is attended by around 1,700 cadres, can present the face of NU leadership in the future in accordance with GP Ansor's direction today.

The President arrived at the event location at around 07.30 WIB with a number of ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet (KIM) at Pier 106 as the opening location of the Ansor GP Congress.

The congress agenda this time raised the theme "GP Ansor of the Future NU Roadmap", describing a roadmap that leads to spiritual, social, and national development, making GP Ansor the frontline in maintaining Indonesia's Islamic identity and nationality.

Pelni ship carrying GP Ansor cadres then moved as far as 210 naval miles to Tanjung Emas, Semarang, Central Java.

Also attending to accompany the President on the agenda were Minister of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform, Azwar Anas, Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko, Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo.

In addition, the TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, PBNU Chairman KH Yahya Qolil Staquf, GP Ketum Ansor Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari, and Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono were also present.
