JAMBI - Sultan Thaha Jambi Airport is ready to serve the new Jambi-Batam flight route without transit starting March 27, 2024. The addition of this route is believed to increase the number of passengers at the airport. "Starting March 27, 2024, Jambi's first direct flight to Batam," said Executive General Manager of Sultan Thaha Jambi Airport Siswanto in Jambi, Antara, Wednesday, January 31. This thickening, he said, is open every day so that it makes it easier for people who have been waiting for flight routes to Batam. "The demand for the Jambi-Batam route is a lot, because previously we were already there but then stopped," he said. This Jambi-Batam flight will be served by the Super Air Jet airline. Regarding the potential for Jambi-Batam flights to increase the number of passengers in Jambi, Siswanto emphasized that airport authorities are optimistic that the potential addition is there. He also hopes that the opening of this route will increase tourist visits to Jambi. Meanwhile, in a day Jambi Airport is able to serve flights for more than 2,000 passengers. In addition to working on the Jambi-Batam route, Sultan Thaha Jambi Airport is also working on Jambi-Lampung-Yogyakarta flights. "Jambi Lampung Jogja is still in talks, meaning that there are two airlines that are interested but we have not been able to make a statement. But hopefully in March 2024 it will fly," said Siswanto.

Previously, Jambi Airport also opened Jambi-Kerinci flight routes using Susi Air. This route is also in demand by passengers, because the trip to Kerinci can be taken for less than 30 minutes while the road trip is 12 hours. Siswanto emphasized that currently the airport is also trying other routes to increase the number of passengers and tourists to Jambi Province.
