Review Of Handling COVID-19, Erick Thohir Talks About Reasons To Support Prabowo-Gibran

DENPASAR - SOE Minister Erick Thohir emphasized that he supports Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka on the basis of the importance of unity. Erick reviewed the handling of COVID-19, one of which was due to the compactness of the elite.

"(If I am asked) as Erick Thohir, I think this is the case, I learned during COVID-19. Allah, God, unites our two leaders before COVID-19, so that when (there is) a split in elections at that time (can) unite," said Erick in Denpasar, Tuesday, January 30.

"Those who initiated Mr. Jokowi to embrace Mr. Prabowo opened their hands, do you imagine that if we face COVID-19, Indonesia is still divided in politics, are we successful or fail? I think the failure rate is more than 60 percent," he added.

Political divisions, said Erick, will have a negative impact on state conditions in the context of handling the pandemic.

"Because what happened, always like today, there was a wrong debate, what was right was said to be wrong, what was wrong was said to be true, right. At the time of COVID, imagine when the Indonesian people needed leadership togetherness to solve the problems faced with the people but carried out with divisions," he said.

"We can succeed, because the joint decision to provide free vaccines to Indonesian people, in other countries it is not free, provides free medicine, free medicine. So, we can save more Indonesians than many other countries," he continued.

In addition, Erick Thohir spoke about the public's high trust in President Jokowi.

"Our President, Mr. Jokowi, the level of public trust is still 88 percent, which world leaders have such ratings. He (President Jokowi) is a human being, there must be shortcomings, we are also lacking here, I especially lack a lot. But well, we see that he is still an extraordinary figure, bringing our nation in a good economic growth situation," he said.
