Riau Police Shoot Battery Thief Tower Telkomsel

The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of the Riau Regional Police shot a Telkomsel tower battery thief with the initials DH.

"Officers fired warning shots to stop the perpetrators, but they were ignored. They were desperate to hit the officer until he had a broken right leg. Then the officers gave measured decisive action to one perpetrator with the initials DR," said Director of the Ditkrimum of the Riau Police, Kombes Asep Darmawan in Pekanbaru, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, January 26.

The theft occurred in Telkomsel tower in Kuala Village, Tambang District, Kampar Regency. Based on the results of the investigation, the DR perpetrator was caught on surveillance cameras while stealing the tower battery belonging to the Telkomsel provider by climbing the fence.

During the investigation and arrest, it was suspected that the two perpetrators, the initials SH and DR, were riding a motorbike in the Kandis - Minas area. Joint officers tried to chase the perpetrators to the Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Gate.

During the ambush, the perpetrator tried to injure the officer by hitting him. Until finally the officers released hot lead but the perpetrator was still able to escape.

A few days after the incident, his party received news from Safira Hospital that the DR perpetrator was receiving treatment there. Getting this information, the police immediately went there to check.

"It turned out that the perpetrator was operated because there was a bullet projectile in the perpetrator's stomach that had been issued by the hospital," he said.

After the DR perpetrator's condition improves, his party will conduct referrals and treatment at the Bhayangkara Hospital, Riau Police. Regarding DR's information after being shot, Kombes Asep denied this.

"When we gave measured decisive action, the perpetrators still fled and entered Safira Hospital accompanied by the family," he said.

Until now, SH, who is DR's colleague, is still being chased by the police. It is suspected that the perpetrators had worked at the provider to understand what he needed to do.

Asep explained, the price of Telkomsel tower batteries ranges from Rp50-60 million. Telkomsel admitted that they had often lost this tower battery.
