JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has added four air quality monitoring stations (SPKU) in the capital city as an effort to deal with air pollution. One of the SPKUs is placed at the Ciracas Sports Hall, East Jakarta.

"This SPKU was built through the Environment Agency program in collaboration with the Youth and Sports Service. I appreciate the Head of the Youth and Sports Service who has provided a place for this SPKU," said Heru while reviewing SPKU at the Ciracas Sports Hall, Friday, January 26.

Heru explained that there were five SPKUs in DKI Jakarta until 2011 spread over five points. Then, in 2023, nine units were added, and in 2024 four units were added. Thus, the total SPKUs that will be in Jakarta until 2024 are 18 units spread over 18 points.

Heru hopes that the addition of SPKU points in Jakarta will be able to determine strategic steps for handling air quality based on the Air Pollution Standard Index (ISPU) recorded in SPKU.

After Jakarta has been hit by air pollution for some time, Heru claims that currently the air conditions in Jakarta are quite good. This is considered from the air quality measurement data contained on the website of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Environment Agency.

"Today I checked Jakarta's air quality, everything is quite good. For example, PM 2.5 reached 41, even though the standard is 55. Then PM 10 is at 47, the standard is 75. Including in Pulomas. Everything is below the quality standard. It means quite good," explained Heru.

However, Heru claims that his party continues to prepare steps to reduce the number of air pollution. Another effort is to install a waterist in high buildings.

"Because every year we meet again every summer. So I urge entrepreneurs to immediately buy a watersimist. This is also in accordance with the results of the meeting decision at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Republic of Indonesia one year ago," explained Heru.

Meanwhile, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Environment Agency, Asep Kuswanto, said that the ideal number of SPKUs that Jakarta should have is 25 units. For this reason, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will continue to strive to add SPKU units so that the handling of air quality will be more optimal. In 2024, four SPKUs will be installed, which are located based on studies by experts in their fields.

"The placement of SPKU locations must be carried out with a study to represent variations in human activities, including sports centers, urban forest areas, and densely populated housing," added Asep.
