JAKARTA - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo checked several areas to find out the cause of flooding in the Central Java Governor's Office complex in Jalan Pahlawan, Semarang City.
Reported by Antara, Wednesday, February 24, the heavy rain that fell for approximately two hours on Tuesday, February 23 evening caused flooding in part of the Central Java Governor's Office complex, causing inundation in the office yard, 1st floor of Building B, and the hallway connecting Building A .
"It's a bit strange, when I was still in Kudus the condition of the office was flooded, strange in my opinion, because in the parking lot the water could not come out, it was impossible (impossible) for sure something was clogged," he said after checking on Tuesday, 23 February, evening.
After checking, he said that the embankment from the fence of the Central Java DPRD building project and sedimentation in the waterways were factors causing flooding in the Central Java Governor's Office complex.
"In the construction of the DPRD building, it turns out that there is a small embankment there, there is a small embankment that closes between this building and the fence there, so the water really doesn't have a chance to pass," he said.
Ganjar has asked the project manager for the construction of the Central Java Provincial DPRD building not to build embankments in the project fence area.
He also ordered the Public Works Agency to dredge sedimentation in the waterways behind the governor's office.
"Earlier I asked that tonight the garbage be dredged, the sediment is dredged out. I am afraid that it does not appear that what gets in there is blocked or not," he said.
"If it can be classified, then the trash can be taken, hopefully it will run smoothly," he added.
The governor also received reports about inundation in the Simpang Lima area and immediately contacted the Pemali-Juana River Basin Center (BBWS) and the local head to immediately activate all pumps in Semarang City.
"Earlier, I also had contact with the Mayor of Semarang and BBWS so that all pumps are turned on throughout Semarang, so that in approximately one hour the Simpang Lima has receded," he said.
The governor also checked in the area of Jalan Minister Supeno near the At-Taqwa Mosque, which is also suspected of being the source of flooding in the Central Java governor's office complex.
When the governor arrived at his office on Tuesday, February 23 at around 8:00 p.m. WIB, the floods had started to recede.
He then checked the parking lot behind Building B which was inundated at knee-high adults.
"This was breached, Sir," said an employee of the Central Java Provincial Government using the Javanese language, pointing at the fence embankment of the Central Java DPRD building project which was breached to facilitate water flow.
