Students Of SDN Kepuh Cilegon Returned Early Because Of The Strong Smell Of Factory Chemical Gas, 3 People Were Taken To The Hospital

CILEGON - Teaching and learning activities have been disrupted due to the smell of chemical gas caused by PT Candra Asri in Cilegon, Banten, in recent days. As a result, a number of students had to be sent home early. The head of the Kepuh Elementary School in Cilego Banten Sahri said that he had sent his students home early at 10.00 WIB. The schedule should have been for students to return home at 12.00 WIB. "The longer it smells very strong, even though you already wear a mask but it still smells, children are uncomfortable studying," he said in Cilegon Antara, Tuesday, January 23. This pungent smell began to be felt in the morning at around 09.00 WIB. Even though the factory's distance to the school is about 4 kilometers. "During learning, of course, it is very disturbing, children are also uncomfortable because our school position is facing the west, so there is wind that enters the room, it doesn't smell really good," he said. He said that out of a total of 232 students, five of them also experienced nausea, dizziness, and stomach pain, even three people were rushed to the nearest health center. "Yesterday there were five people who complained of nausea, dizziness and stomach pain so they were immediately taken to the puskesmas, and two people were brought home by their parents," he said. He said that by repatriating students earlier, it was also an effort to prevent unwanted things from happening.

"So for the time being, children study at home first, because we are also worried that like yesterday there were children who had to be rushed to the hospital," he said. He hopes that the company can immediately overcome this pungent chemical odor because it greatly disrupts activities, especially teaching and learning.
