JAKARTA - UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres criticized the United Nations Security Council (DK PBB) for not having permanent members of the African continent.

"How can we accept that there is not a single Permanent Member of the Security Council from Africa?" Guterres wrote on social media X.

"Institutions must reflect the current world, not 80 years ago. Future Summits in September will be an opportunity to consider global governance reforms while rebuilding trust," said the Secretary General.

Guterres also reiterated his demands that a humanitarian ceasefire and unconditional release of all hostages in the Gaza Strip must be carried out immediately.

"I will not stop calling for a humanitarian ceasefire and the unconditional release of all hostages immediately," he said.

Guterres also underlined the humanitarian crisis in Gaza that faces Israeli attacks.

"People who are currently dying in Gaza are not only due to bombs and bullets, but also from the clean food and water crisis and hospitals that do not have medicines and power grids," he said.
