BNN Destroys 20.9 Kilograms Of Shabu

JAKARTA - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) destroyed 20,988.10 grams (20.9 kilograms) of crystal methamphetamine and 11.34 grams of marijuana in 2024.

"This is the result of the arrests in West Kalimantan and DKI Jakarta," said Deputy for Eradication of BNN RI Inspector General I Wayan Sugiri at a press conference at the BNN parking lot, Cawang, Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, January 19.

The evidence of the destroyed methamphetamine was the result of the disclosure of a narcotics crime case which was revealed at the end of 2023 with the number of suspects eight people whose handling was located in West Kalimantan and DKI Jakarta.

Wayan Sugiri said 15,910.1 grams of crystal methamphetamine was obtained from a Malaysian-Kalimantan network narcotics syndicate. The disclosure of the case was on November 27, 2023.

From the results of the initial interrogation, he said, the two suspects with the initials SMP alias T and HD alias B were ordered by someone with the initials ZL to carry narcotics. ZL was determined by investigators to be on the wanted list (DPO).

Next, BNN secured 5,100 grams of crystal methamphetamine on December 11, 2023, out of six suspects who were syndicates receiving goods in the form of packages from courier service providers from Mexico.

The six people had the initials RA alias IO, AP, RYS alias AL, RMP alias P, GIK alias G, and HMD alias AG.

This case is the first disclosure of BNN together with Customs and Excise at Soekarno-Hatta Airport with a source of goods suspected of being a Mexican cartel.

"Until now, BNN is still developing the case," said Wayan.

The amount of methamphetamine evidence destroyed today, he said, was not entirely from the total evidence that was secured. This, he said, was because there was still evidence that was still being confiscated.

Meanwhile, 11.34 grams of marijuana destroyed were the results of laboratory tests from the remaining findings of marijuana cases.

The destruction of evidence of methamphetamine and marijuana is an implementation of Article 91 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

"In this case, the Indonesian National Narcotics Agency (BNN RI) is obliged to destroy evidence after the evidence has received a stipulation from the local public prosecutor," explained the Deputy for Eradication of BNN.
