Anies Baswedan Calls Sorong, Southwest Papua, Oil City, Ironic When Fuel Is Rare

Presidential Candidate (Capres) number I Anies Baswedan stated that he is ready to overcome the scarcity of fuel oil (BBM) in Southwest Papua Province with various strategic efforts and policies if he is elected to the seat of the Republic of Indonesia I. Because, according to him, fuel in Sorong is expensive because it is rare. One of the things that you want to prepare is to overcome the scarcity of fuel in the Southwest Papua region. "This is experienced in a place called Sorong, Sorong is known as 'Kota Minyak', ironically, isn't it," Anies said in front of a mass of supporters while campaigning in Sorong City, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, January 16. The government, he said, had added oil quotas in Sorong, but it was even more expensive and difficult. "What this needs to be ignored is that we need to make changes by eradicating the oil mafia and its roots so that oil is not difficult and expensive for the community," he said. He feels confident that this change of action, of course, welfare in all fields will be experienced optimally for all people, including in Southwest Papua. The General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia has determined three participants in the 2024 presidential election, namely the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar pair number 1, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka number 2, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD number 3.

The campaign period will take place from 28 November 2023 to 10 February 2024. After the campaign, there will be a quiescent period on 11-13 February 2024. Then, the schedule for voting for the 2024 General Election will take place simultaneously on 14 February 2024.
