Bangun 2 Bailey BPBD Anticipates Broken Bridge Due To Flood

PANGKALPINANG - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province procured two units of the bailey bridge in 2024, to anticipate a broken bridge due to flood disasters during the rainy season.

"The procurement of these two bailey bridges will be placed on the islands of Bangka and Belitung," said Head of BPBD for the Province of the Babylon Islands, Mikron Antariksa in Pangkalpinang, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, January 13.

This year's bailey bridge event, as a step by the provincial government in dealing with the emergency of damaged bridges, damaged roads due to floods, or floods during the current extreme rainy season.

"We continue to strive to improve this disaster infrastructure, so that post-disaster management is more optimal," he said.

In improving the completeness of this disaster infrastructure, the BPBD of the Province of the Islands of Babel has also coordinated with cross-sectors and the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri).

"The Ministry of Home Affairs has fulfilled several disaster equipment sent directly to seven districts/cities, such as water pumps, tactical fire extinguishers, motorbikes, and others," he said.

He hopes that the district/city government will hold this bailey bridge on a smaller scale or adjust roads in these districts and cities, so that this anticipation and handling of disasters is more optimal.

"Procurement of a larger provincial bailey bridge reaches 30 meters, which is adjusted to national and provincial roads, while district roads are smaller and shorter so it is hoped that the district government and city governments will also allocate funds for the procurement of this bailey bridge," he said.

According to him, the procurement of the two units of the bailey bridge stationed on the islands of Bangka and Belitung is certainly still lacking.

Therefore, it is hoped that the district/city government will also procure a bailey to anticipate broken bridges on district, sub-district and village roads.

"This year's rainy season is very extreme and the potential for natural disasters such as floods, floods, landslides is quite high, so there needs to be anticipation of infrastructure damage due to the disaster," he said.
