The Flood Recedes, Chairman Of Rawa Buaya Village: Mr. Anies' Job Is Extraordinary

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan visited the Citizens Association (RT02/RW01) area, Rawa Buaya Village, Cengkareng, West Jakarta. This location was hit by a flood yesterday, but now it has receded.

When the area was reviewed by Anies, Chairman of Citizens Association (RW01) Arif M. Sahri said that the performance of the Jakarta Provincial Government to drain the water that flooded the settlements was very good.

"This is extraordinary, Mr. Anies' work and achievements are extraordinary. Because we humans can only plan, but Allah is the planner. But, sincerely, God willing, we are ready to work together, thank God Rawa Buaya is dry", said Arif at the location, Monday, 22 February.

Arif explained, usually, RW 02 Rawa Buaya is affected by flooding for up to 5 days before it recedes. However, with the assistance of pumping water from the ranks of the DKI Provincial Government, the floods there dried up in one day.

"Alhamdulillah, last night at 1 pm with a water level of 20 to 1.5 meters, Rawa Buaya was zero, no flood. Once again I thank our Governor and his staff", said Arif.

Furthermore, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan explained, Rawa Buaya Village was flooded due to rain and also water runoff from the Mookervart River. Mookervart river is a water channel in Jakarta province that connects Angke River with Cisadane, Tangerang City.

"Rawa Buaya Village on Saturday received an overflow of water from the Mookervart River. Then, after the river returns to normal, massive pumping is carried out", said Anies.

He emphasized that the high rainfall that flushed Jakarta was out of control. He said that DKI's drainage system can only accommodate a rainfall capacity of 100 millimeters per day. Unfortunately, the rainfall in several DKI areas since two days ago has been above capacity.

"If it is below 100 millimeters, there should be no inundation and flooding. But if it is above 100 mm, then we will have to dry it as soon as possible. We have to ensure that it recedes as soon as possible. Thank God, all ranks have carried out this instruction", explained Anies.
