JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo emphasized that the waste of digital infrastructure spending in the midst of digital transformation efforts must be prevented while still increasing digital security.

"Most importantly, waste of digital infrastructure spending must be prevented and digital security must continue to be improved," said Jokowi when delivering directions at the Plenary Cabinet Session regarding the Improvement of Performance of State Civil Apparatus through the Integrated Government Digital Services at the State Palace, Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 9.

Jokowi said the government of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet still has nine months to complete its task. He asked that the remaining time be used as momentum to increase bureaucratic reform related to digitization.

"Because this digital transformation is a must and an integration of government digital services, we really have to do it," he explained.

According to Jokowi, thousands of platforms must be simplified. He asked that no more new application platforms be raised that are oriented only to projects, therefore it will only make it difficult to assemble simplifications and improve digitization functions, especially government digital services.

Jokowi also asked the Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (MenpanRB) Abdullah Azwar Anas to immediately accelerate the implementation of an electronic-based government system (SPBE), consolidate all portals into one national portal, and strengthen digital security.

"I ask the Minister of SOEs to also support the acceleration of transformation through Perum Peruri, which is our national GovTech. The Minister of Home Affairs and the Minister of Communication and Information also accelerates the development and implementation of digital ID, no later than six months must be completed," said President Jokowi.

The President also asked the Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi to immediately transform the government cloud policy to increase digital policy, all of which are under the coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment.
