JAKARTA - Due to extreme weather that caused flooding in the Daop 1 area of Jakarta, the long-distance train journey from Gambir Station and Pasar Senen on Sunday, February 21 was canceled.

Eva Chairunisa, Head of Public Relations of PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, explained that until now, the sections of the road between Kedunggedeh-Lemah Abang at KM 55 + 100 to KM 53 + 600 are still flooded with a height of up to 150 cm. This flood not only flooded the railroad tracks but also eroded the rocky foundation on the tracks.

"With this high waterlogging condition, PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta has canceled train trips for the entire departure schedule," Eva said in a written statement to reporters, Sunday, February 21.

He said, currently the KAI Infrastructure Team is still making regular repairs. One of them is by lowering concrete bearings on flooded rails.

"PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 1 Jakarta would like to apologize to all train service users who experience constraints from the impact of extreme weather, which affects the train infrastructure and operational conditions," he said.

Furthermore, he said passengers who have ordered a canceled train ticket can make a cancellation from the KAI Access application or the cancellation counters at the station.

"Ticket cancellations due to canceled trains will be returned 100 percent," he said.

Meanwhile, service users who come from the direction of Central Java and East Java to Jakarta will be handled by bus for a further journey from the last stations, namely Cikampek, Klari, and Karawang Stations. This bus is provided free of charge by PT KAI.
