Police Prepare A Team To Unravel The Malioboro Area On New Year's Eve

Yogyakarta Police deployed a team to unravel congestion and prevent vehicle congestion from various routes leading to the Malioboro area on New Year's Eve 2024.

"Personnel around Malioboro are 136 personnel from traffic, plus several break-up teams that we have prepared," said Yogyakarta Police Traffic Unit Head AKP Maryanto in Yogyakarta, Saturday, December 30.

According to Maryanto, the joint unraveling team from the Yogyakarta Police and the Yogyakarta Special Region Police Ditlantas will serve at a number of points that are considered prone to congestion. "We have prepared them from the Ditlantas (DIY Police) and the Yogyakarta Police," added Maryanto.

On New Year's Eve, according to him, traffic jams usually occur on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Jalan Margo Utomo, Jalan Abu Bakar Ali, Jalan Malioboro, and Jalan Pasar Kembang.

To prevent traffic jams, the police have prepared traffic engineering in the form of diverting the flow of vehicles going to the Tugu Pal Putih area, Malioboro, to the Yogyakarta Palace (Gumaton).

Traffic engineering in the Yogyakarta Tugu area is carried out using an open and close system at the Terban intersection, Jetis intersection, and Pingit intersection.

If the community has been observed to fill the Tugu area, at these points traffic engineering will be applied in the form of vehicle diversion. For the Malioboro area, flow diversion is carried out at Teteg Malioboro towards Zero Km Point, starting at 18.00 WIB, or at the same time as the implementation of a free night from a motorized vehicle (car free night).

Yogyakarta Police personnel, Yogyakarta City Transportation Service, and Yogyakarta City Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) will be alerted to keep no vehicles breaking in through Malioboro fins. "Our personnel, both the Police, Transportation Agency, and Pol PP, have been directed to plot; so that the Malioboro fin entry direction is maintained," said Maryanto.
