JAKARTA - A Timika West Papua National Committee (KNPB) activist named Edo alias ED underwent an intensive examination at the Mimika Police.

The examination was carried out because Edo's wild thumbs advocated the younger generation of Papua not to participate in the registration of the National Police Noken candidate.

Kasat Reskrim Mimika Police AKP Hermanto said the provocation was carried out by Edo on the Facebook page. Thursday, 18 yesterday, he was detained but was immediately released.

"After being asked for information, we immediately returned the person concerned. During the examination, he admitted that he made a post on his Facebook page inviting the younger generation of Papua not to register themselves to participate in the selection of Noken Polri candidates," said AKP Hermanto as quoted by Antara, Friday, February 19. .

ED said he joined the KNPB social media group, an organization that has been known to support the Papua region breaking away from the Republic of Indonesia.

The Mimika Police have not detained Edo because the alleged case was a complaint offense. This means that someone must report this to the police.

Edo is known to have joined the KNPB Timika region. He is known to hold a number of important positions in the group's supporting organizations, namely the Spokesperson for the KNPB Timika and the KNPB Coordinator for the Pioneer Sector and its surroundings.

AKP Hermanto denied the rumors circulating on social media in Timika that the police had kidnapped Edo.

"There is information outside that he was kidnapped, it is not true. We came to his house, at that time there were several people in the house. When asked where ED was, his colleagues answered that they were not there. It turned out that ED was hiding in a neighbor's house," said AKP Hermanto. .

This is not the only time ED has dealt with the police in Mimika. Previously, he was caught in a treason case and had served a prison sentence in Timika Prison with his colleagues.
