Proven To Violate The Code Of Ethics, Firli Bahuri Is Strictly Sanctioned

JAKARTA - The Supervisory Board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (Dewas KPK) has imposed severe sanctions on the inactive KPK chairman Firli Bahuri for violating the code of ethics.

"Imposing severe sanctions to the Examined (Firli Bahuri) in the form of being asked to submit his resignation as chairman of the KPK," said the Chairman of the KPK Council, Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean, when reading the decision of Firli Bahuri's ethics trial at the ACLC KPK building, Jakarta, December 27.

Tumpak revealed that Firli Bahuri was proven to have violated the code of ethics related to his direct and indirect meeting with the then Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

Tumpak said Firli did not inform the KPK leadership of the meeting, causing a collision of personal interests.

"To announce this decision on the Commission's network media which can only be accessed by the Commission Personnel and / or others according to the Supervisory Board regulations regarding Enforcement of the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct," said Tumpak.

There was no sanction for violating the code of ethics against Firli Bahuri, said Tumpak, to relieve Firli Bahuri, while the aggravating thing was that Firli did not admit his actions.

"The mitigating thing, nothing. The aggravating things: the examinee did not admit his actions. The examinee was not present at the trial of the code of ethics and code of conduct without valid reasons even though he had been legally and properly summoned and there was an impression of trying to slow down the trial," he explained.

Firli Bahuri was declared to have violated Article 4 paragraph 2 letter a or Article 4 paragraph 1 letter j and Article 8 letter e of the KPK Council Regulation Number 3 of 2021 concerning Enforcement of the KPK Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct.

The verdict reading session was held openly on the 6th floor of the ACLC KPK building, Kuningan, South Jakarta. The trial was attended by all Ethics Councils consisting of 5 Dewas members, namely Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean, Syamsuddin Haris, Albertina Ho, Harjono and Indriyanto Seno Adji.
