Candidates For Presidential Candidates Asked To Appear Lugas And Not Sound In The Third Debate Of The 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - International relations observer at Padjadjaran University Widya Setiabudi Sumadinata hopes that the three presidential candidates can appear straightforward in the third debate of the 2024 presidential election which brings together between presidential candidates.

"Hopefully the presidential and presidential candidates can be straightforward, without hesitation, to find the weakest points from their opponents in their understanding and ability on these (third debates) issues," said Widya when contacted from Jakarta, Tuesday, December 26.

However, he reminded the presidential candidates not to just talk without data support in the debate with the theme of defense, security, international and geopolitical relations.

"But they are not asbun (original sound), but supported by data, as well as analytic abilities over the data. In addition, the ideas are innovative, out of the box, but also physible, realistic, and do not cause new problems," he said.

He explained that the third debate had a very important theme, especially in the face of a new chapter of the global political constellation.

"This theme is very important because in the 2024-2029 period the global political constellation will enter a new chapter that is different in the 2019-2024 period. Thus, the vision and ability to make strategic decisions of the president at this time will determine Indonesia's position," he said.

In addition, he also hopes that panelists can play a more role in the next debate than the two previous debates.

"The panelists should be given special and more free time to ask questions, as well as to compensate for the possibility of a press debate and not being substantial among the presidential candidates," said Widya.
