SURABAYA - The Surabaya City Government, East Java, put up stickers on the houses of residents who are doing self-isolation. The sticker is a sign to protect families who are in self-isolation.

"This is done as a form of anticipation and protecting the Isoman family and residents to avoid the spread of COVID-19", said Deputy Secretary of the Surabaya COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Irvan Widyanto, in Surabaya, Friday, February 19.

The head of BPB and Linmas City of Surabaya explained that the installation of an independent isolation sign was carried out when there was a positive confirmation case in a family. As well, requiring family members/close contacts to perform supervised self-isolation until the results of the PCR swab come out.

"In other areas,  we may use flags and so on. In Surabaya, we are more protective of the individuals there", he said.

The hope, said Irvan, that residents around the house can look after each other and protect families who are doing self-isolation. Also, residents are expected to help monitor and supervise.

"Residents around can take care not to let people (the family who is a self-isolation) leave the house or do not get anything and at the same time may provide food assistance or anything", he said.

Irvan stated that the plan is for these stickers to be distributed to every Tangguh Village administrator in Surabaya. Later on, the sticking of stickers to the houses of families who carry out the self-isolation will be done by residents or village officials themselves.

"The plan is that we will distribute (stickers) by next week", he said.
