Flooded Housing Complex, DPR Will Surati Anies

JAKARTA - The rain that flushed Jakarta all day resulted in inundation and flooding at several points. In fact, the DPR official housing complex in Kalibata, South Jakarta was also flooded.

"It is true (flooding), because the water in our channel (DPR official housing) was pushed back because the river outside was full," said DPR Secretary General Indra Iskandar, Thursday, February 18.

Indra said that the floods inundated houses number 329, 393 and 394, which are housing blocks for members of the PDIP faction of the DPR RI. The flood flooded with water levels of 15 to 20 centimeters.

"This is the first time a flood like this," said Indra.

Indra said, actually the DPR official housing complex has a water channel that has been widened. It's just that, when it rains today, the channel cannot accommodate runoff because the Ciliwung River is also overflowing.

"Right back there is a river. Now the river water is rising, pushing it overflowing into the palace through our channel to the river," explained Indra.

Even though it has receded now, Indra admitted that the DPR RI will send a letter to the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan to deal with the problem so that floods will no longer occur.

"We will tell the provincial government about that. Because in the past, as long as we have, the river was once removed by mud. We don't know, whether it's because of high silt or what," he concluded.
