37-year-old PPK Luwu officer died in the Four Points By Sheraton Hotel room

JAKARTA - An officer of the District Election Committee (PPK) of North Belopa District, Luwu Regency named Yusri Hafid 37 years old was declared dead in the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel room after attending Technical Guidance (Bimtek) in Makassar, South Sulawesi.

"Yes, that's right, there was a discovery of a corpse at the hotel where it was for activities. However, at the time of sunset we were informed by the hotel to check the victim's room," said Rappocini Police Chief Adjunct Commissioner of Police (AKP) Muhammad Yusuf to reporters at the local hotel, Saturday night, as reported by Antara.

After confirming that there were victims who died at the hotel, his party immediately coordinated with the Medical and Health Sector (Biddokes) and the Makassar Police Inafis team to carry out further checks to be evacuated to the Bayangkara Hospital.

"Currently the body is being brought to Bhayangkara Hospital for examination. He (the victim) works for the Luwu KPU. The schedule for his activities is on 15 and 16. He came with his friends. There are no other signs or violence," he stressed.

Confirmed separately, the victim's colleague Kemal said that initially the victim participated in Technical Guidance activities, the Coordination Meeting for Preparation for the Formation of the Voting Organizing Group (KPPS) for the 2024 General Election PPS and PPK levels throughout Luwu Regency.

"There is Bimtek, initially at the next hotel. But moving here. Here, starting to get confused, usually in one room there are two people. This is him himself. The information I got from his friend, from the one who joined the Technical Guidance, himself, at 12.00 WITA, it should have been checked out," said Kemal.

After his colleagues all came out early after checking out of the hotel, the victim had not come out so he was searched and had not found it. This is because the event was completed yesterday, Friday, December 15, 2023.

"This is an event from yesterday. It's finished. There were children who checked this afternoon at 16.00 WITA, he said the reception had checked all out. That's what the hotel said. We just got information (died) has entered the maghrib," he said.

"The family has been nervous since morning. There is no incoming information, I also called that there was no (unanswered) since the afternoon. There could be a history of the disease, this is the deceased," he said.

Confirmed separately, KPU member Luwu Adly Aqsha stated that the position of the deceased was only resting at the Sheraton Hotel. Because, instructions at 10:00 WITA already have to check out of the hotel and have to go to Luwu Regency because the bus is waiting for the group's departure.

"He (the deceased) had breakfast, according to Ibi Yos, a member of the PPK Lamasi, had breakfast at 6.30 WITA. I finished the morning prayer again, later at 9.00 WITA I went to breakfast. Friends are ready to go to Luwu, there are already buses," said the commissioner in charge of the Planning, Data and Information Division.

When asked if the victim had a history of illness while attending the Bimtek, said Aldy, his history of illness was not known, but last week before leaving Bimtek there were other activities because he was the Secretary of PSSI Luwu.

"So while there was a tournament in Belopa before leaving for Makassar. Maybe he (the victim) was tired. He had bribed me with cakes, because the event was small, because my tenure was about to end," he recalled.
