JAKARTA - The Government of Banjarnegara Regency, Central Java (Central Java) has reopened the Arjuna Temple tourist attraction which was closed for tourists during the Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM).

"This week it has started to reopen again," said Head of the Banjarnegara Regency Tourism and Culture Office, Agung Yusianto, in Banjarnegara, Central Java, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, February 17.

Nevertheless, he said, his party ensured that the implementation of health protocols at these tourist objects had gone well.

"We ensure that the restriction of visitors to 30 percent of normal capacity and the implementation of other health protocols such as washing hands, wearing masks and maintaining distance have gone well," he said.

He explained that his party also appealed to the managers of all tourist objects in Banjarnegara to always implement health protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

"Implementing health protocols, wearing masks, keeping your distance and avoiding crowds are the main things," he said.

He added that his party continues to strive to comply with policies in the tourism sector as a form of commitment to support efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, tourism observers from Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed) Purwokerto Chusmeru appreciated the Banjarnegara Regency Government's steps in enforcing health protocols in tourist attractions.

He reminded that enforcement of health protocols in tourist objects is necessary to break the cycle of transmission of COVID-19.

He said that the management of the tourist attraction, the COVID-19 Task Force in the area and all other stakeholders need to ensure that all individuals inside the tourist attraction wear masks, keep their distance and do not crowd.

"If there is a crowd, it is necessary to take firm action and carry out an evaluation, if it is under supervision and evaluation," he said.

According to him, without strict health protocols there is a concern that there is a risk of transmission of COVID-19 in tourist destinations.

"Therefore, socialization and education must be strengthened, supervision and enforcement of regulations must be carried out to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19," he said.

All parties, he said, need to understand that there is a risk of transmission if they ignore health protocols. "Understanding and self-awareness is needed to discipline the application of health protocols including in the location of tourist attractions," he said.
