First Time, KPU Makes TPS At Liponsos And Griya Werdha Surabaya

SURABAYA - The Surabaya City Government (Pemkot) together with the General Election Commission (KPU) of Surabaya City have prepared a polling place (TPS) at UPTD Liponsos and UPTD Griya Werdha.

This was done to facilitate the residents of Liponsos and Griya Werdha in channeling their voting rights on voting day 14 February 2024.

"This is the first time after a judicial review, in which they have the right to vote and to be elected. Therefore, together with the KPU, we facilitate them to exercise their voting rights later," said Head of the Surabaya City Social Service Anna Fajriatin, Tuesday, December 5.

According to Anna, later in Liponsos there will be two polling stations. First, the Special TPS is intended for Liponsos inmates who have a Surabaya ID card and live in UPTD Liponsos. He gave an example of Wonokromo residents who are neglected and do not have a family, then he is escorted by the Surabaya City Government and he will later enter a special TPS.

Second, the Regular TPS that will be intended for inmates who when entering Liponsos, no population administration is found. Usually, when they enter Liponsos, biometric checks will be checked, and when they are not detected or where residents are not found, then they will be guarded with a Surabaya ID card with an address at Liponsos Keputih. "This resident will enter the Regular TPS," he said.

Apart from Liponsos, the Surabaya KPU will also prepare TPS at Griya Werdha, but at UPTD it will only be provided with Regular TPS. It is hoped that residents in Griya Werdha can also be easier and closer when expressing their voting rights.

"Well, when KPU friends coordinate with us, we are asked to prepare the data. Therefore, we are still confirming the data that is included in the voter list," he said.

He also ensured that he did not carelessly put Liponsos' inmates on the voter list. This is because the ODGJ who inhabit Liponsos has different levels of mental disorders, so it must be sorted out which ones are possible to be included in the voter list and which ones cannot be included.

"Of course we continue to carry out assessments and monitoring of mental disorders, if they are still unstable and their emotions are not stable, of course we will not include them, because we are worried that it will also interfere with the TPS," he said.

Even so, Anna ensured that the selection process at Liponsos and at Griya Werdha would be the same as the selection at other polling stations, such as coming to polling stations and voting. However, of course there will be special assistance.

"Well, for this special assistance, we don't know what the process is like and how, what is clear is that we were asked by the KPU to prepare seven assistants from the Social Service," he said.

Therefore, he hopes that the Surabaya KPU will immediately disseminate information to assistants from the Social Service and also socialize to Liponsos residents and also residents of Griya Werdha. Because, they need to be given special socialization about the voting process from beginning to end.

"Hopefully there will be socialization to Liponsos and Griya Werdha about the voting process later," he concluded.
