JAKARTA - Russian President Vladimir Putin has increased the number of troops with around 170,000 soldiers so that the number of Russian military personnel is now more than 2.2 million.

Reported by ANTARA from the Kremlin, Sabt, December 2, Putin has signed a decree increasing the number of Russian Armed Forces personnel.

The number of personnel of the Russian Armed Forces, originally 2,039,758, with 1,150,628 soldiers, will be increased to 2,209,130, with 1,320,000 troops.

This decision comes into effect from the date the decree was signed.

In this latest decree, the number of soldiers increased by 169,372 people, while other personnel did not increase.

Russia's Defense Ministry said that although they had added about 170,000 troops, they had no plans to massively increase military service.

"No rules regulate mobilization," he said, referring to the addition of armed forces personnel due to the increasing threat due to "special military operations" in Ukraine and the expansion of NATO membership.

The addition of armed forces personnel is believed to be in response toNATO's aggressive activities.
