JAYAPURA - Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri asked members of the National Police not to be provoked by disturbances by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Paro District, Nduga Regency, Papua Mountains.

"The distance from Paro District and Kenyam District is so far away that we ask the police chiefs not to pursue the KKB because it will be very risky," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, December 1.

According to Fakhiri, the shooting case by the KKB at the TNI Post in Paro District which resulted in two TNI members dying at that time not being attacked but indeed being disturbed.

"If it is said that the TNI post was attacked, it is not, but there was a disturbance," he said.

Thus, his party appealed to the security forces not to be provoked but to remain vigilant and ensure that disturbances from the KKB do not happen again.

"For this reason, all members must improve security so that disturbances from the KKB can be suppressed," he said.

The Papuan Police are still taking law enforcement steps and it is hoped that members of the National Police and the TNI who work in the area can arrest KKB members including networks from opposing groups with the understanding of the Republic of Indonesia.

"Because many KKB members have been arrested so that it is hoped that this can be developed so that in the future all of their networks can be known," he said.
