Anies Baswedan Targets To Vaccinate 1.500 Merchants In A Day

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said the government is targeting 1.500 market merchants who will receive COVID-19 vaccinations in one day. The second phase of vaccination targeting public officials starts today at Tanah Abang Market, Central Jakarta.

Anies said that the total number of market merchants who had registered to be vaccinated was 9.791 people. However, this number will continue to grow because vaccination in Tanah Abang will take place in 6 days with a target of a total of 55 thousand merchants to be vaccinated.

"This morning, at the Tanah Abang market, vaccinations for merchants and workers began. The total number registered is 9.791 people. 1.500 people will be vaccinated per day", said Anies in the Tanah Abang area, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, February 17.

On this day, the injection of vaccination to public officials is being carried out on the 8th floor of Blok A Tanah Abang targeting the merchants. Vaccinations are also carried out on the 12th floor of Blok A Tanah Abang for PD Pasar Jaya employees.

Anies said, there was about 150 medical personnel who worked as vaccinators. Starting from health checks on vaccine recipients to injections.

"So, the process includes registration, health screening, then vaccination. Then, after that, wait a while to make sure it is safe, only 30 minutes later, they can come out. So, the whole process is approximately one hour for one person", explained Anies.

In the national COVID-19 vaccination program, the government is targeting 181.5 vaccine targets. They are people aged 18 years and over. Vaccine recipients receive twice the injection dose.

In the first stage, the vaccine is intended for 1.5 health workers. As of today, health workers who have received the first dose of vaccination nationally are 76.32 percent, and the second dose is 36.5 percent.

Especially in DKI, the special vaccination for health workers has reached 89 percent and the second dose has reached 45.1 percent.

Then, in the second stage, COVID-19 vaccination is for the elderly and public service workers. The target is 21.5 million elderly and 16.9 million public workers. This program lasts until May.

They are market merchants, educators, religious leaders and counselors, representatives of the people, officials, government, civil servants, the National Army and Police Force, tourism officers, public services, public transportation workers, athletes, and media workers.

Furthermore, vaccination will be carried out for 63.9 million vulnerable people or people living in areas with a high risk of infection. Then, other communities as many as 77.7 million people. This program will be carried out from April 2021 to March 2022.
