Launching The 2024 Election Guideline Center, TikTok Provides Access To Kredible And Authoritative Information Around Elections

JAKARTA - TikTok Indonesia launched the 2024 Election Guideline Center, a hub on the TikTok platform that presents credible and authoritative information about the General Election (Pemilu) in Indonesia. The presence of this hub is part of TikTok's efforts to encourage election integrity and fight the spread of misinformation, especially during the election preparation period and ahead of the vote which will take place in February 2024.

The availability of information at the 2024 Election Guideline Center is supported by a number of institutions and organizations that focus on maintaining and monitoring the implementation of democracy and elections in Indonesia, such as the General Election Commission (KPU RI), the General Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu RI), the Association for Elections and Democracy (Perludem), and the Indonesian Anti-Slander Society (MAFINDO).

"While continuing our efforts to eliminate dangerous misinformation, we have also held various initiatives to create a safe and positive space for the TikTok community during the upcoming 2024 election. The launch of the 2024 Election Guideline Center today further strengthens our commitment to help the TikTok community access official and reliable information about elections," said Firry Wahid, Head of Public Policy and Government Relations, TikTok Indonesia.

"Equipped with credible and authoritative information about elections supported by the KPU, Bawaslu and partners, we hope that users and the TikTok community can join #SalingJaga, especially when consuming, creating, or disseminating information about the 2024 General Election," he added.

To support the running of honest and transparent elections, the 2024 Election Guideline Center will help the public obtain various credible and reliable information related to elections, ranging from information on the requirements and procedures for voting, calculation of voting dates, and information on polling stations (TPS).

Users can also access what important information needs to be known about the election through the 2024 Election Flash feature in the hub. In addition, this hub also provides additional information for voters abroad, and special information for voters with disabilities.

Betty Epsilon Idroos, Commissioner of the General Elections Commission (KPU RI), said that political education is usually delivered in a heavy manner so that it is not liked by the younger generation who are the majority voters in the 2024 General Election.

"Therefore, we really appreciate TikTok for helping not only disseminate information related to elections quickly through the 2024 Election Guidelines Center, but also providing easy-to-depth political education, which we hope will also erode hoaxes on digital platforms," he explained.

Responding to the cooperation carried out with TikTok, Lolly Suhenty, Commissioner of the General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu RI), said that the crowd and political education will be very high on social media including on TikTok, therefore the public must get the widest possible benefits of this platform to get the right information, not misleading information.

"We are very grateful to TikTok for its role in providing electoral education through the 2024 Election Guideline Center, and we invite people to use it immediately whenever and anywhere," he said.
