SUKABUMI - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Sukabumi Regency said the impact of bad weather triggered landslides and tornadoes in Sukabumi Regency, West Java.

"There were no casualties in this incident, but it resulted in damage to buildings and public facilities," said Public Relations BPBD Sukabumi Regency Sandra Fitria as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, November 29.

The landslide disaster occurred in Ciloncer Village, RT 02/01, Tanjungsari Village, Curugkembar District which resulted in irrigation channels being buried by soil material, thus cutting off water supplies to a number of rice fields in the area. In fact, as a result of the damage to the irrigation canal, a number of hectares of agricultural land are threatened with crop failure due to the absence of water supply.

Furthermore, the tornado disaster in Sangkalih Village, RT 16/05, Sukajaya Village, Sukabumi District resulted in a semi-permanent house inhabited by four people being heavily damaged.

However, in this incident there were no casualties, it's just that all residents of the house had to flee to their relatives' houses because their houses could no longer be inhabited.

Sandra said that her party had handled the disaster incident in the two different locations by deploying sub-district disaster management officers (P2BK) assisted by elements of the sub-district leadership communication forum (Forkopimcam).

On the other hand, he appealed to the public to be aware of the occurrence of hydrometeorological disasters because weather forecast information from the Sukabumi Regency Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) in the next few days is predicted to rain heavily from morning to night.
