TANJUNG SELOR - The Population and Civil Registration Service (Disdukcapil) of Bulungan Regency, North Kalimantan (Kaltara), has destroyed tens of thousands of damaged Electronic Identity Cards (e-KTP) and cannot be reused or invalid.

The head of the Bulungan Disdukcapil, Jamaluddin Saleh, revealed that the destruction of tens of thousands of e-KTP pieces had been carried out by burning according to the circular of the Director General of Dukcapil of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) Number 471.13/24149/Dukcapil in 2014 regarding the destruction of invalid KTP blanks.

"Every month the destruction of e-KTPs has been carried out, since the beginning of 2023, tens of thousands have been destroyed. Such as damaged ID cards, changing addresses, changing status and changing photos. This means that all of them are invalid," said Jamaluddin accompanied by the Head of Population Registration of Disdukcapil Bulungan, Wednesday, November 29.

He said the destruction was a form of commitment to continue to maintain population documents properly and validly.

"This is also part of our transparency, especially since the election stages have started, so documents like this are not misused by irresponsible persons," he said.

Ahead of the 2024 General Election, continued Jamaluddin, his party together with the Education Office recorded e-KTP in a number of schools at the SLTA level, SMK Sedarajat. Based on data from Disdukcapil Bulungan, 2,777 Beginner Voters will be 17 years old when the election is held on February 14, 2024.

"Meanwhile, those who are 17 years old but have not recorded, there are approximately 586 people. Well, we will comb this to schools in the interior and coast where the area is blank spot," he explained.

The community's e-KTP recording in the 2024 election has reached 98 percent on the permanent voter list (DPT) set by the Bulungan General Election Commission (KPU) as many as 112,128 voters.

"We are targeting the DPT ID card to be completed in December 2023," he concluded.
