Sampang Village Treasurer Becomes A Corruption Suspect Of IDR 260 Million, Residents Demo Defend

The Sampang District Attorney, East Java has named one of the treasurers as a suspect in the alleged corruption of Village Fund Direct Cash Assistance (BLT) investigated by the institution.

According to the Head of Intelligence Section of the Sampang Kejari, Achmad Wahyudi, in Sampang, East Java, Wednesday, the alleged corruption of the BLT-DD in the 2020 APBD in Gunung Rancak Village, Robatal District, Sampang Regency.

"We have determined this suspect after the Sampang Kejari investigating team found state losses in the case amounting to Rp260 million," reported ANTARA, Wednesday, November 29.

The suspect with the initials S. Although he was named a suspect in question, he was not detained on the pretext of keeping the security situation in the village conducive.

"We maintain conduciveness, we know that now we have only named many suspects who are busy coming to the prosecutor's office, we are waiting for another examination," he said.

According to the Head of Special Crimes (Pidsus) of the Sampang District Attorney's Office, Satrio, prior to the determination of the suspect, the Sampang Kejari investigators summoned two witnesses, namely the Head of Gunung Rancak Village Muhammad Juhar and the Treasurer of Sofrowi Village.

However, Sofrowi only attended the summons. Because Muhammad Juhar was unable to attend due to illness.

"Regarding the determination of other suspects, let us process it first, we will update it later," he said.

Not only that, the Investigative Team also confiscated a sum of state losses in the case of alleged corruption in the Gunung Rancak BLT-DD amounting to Rp260,200,000 from suspect S.

"The money was handed over to the Investigative Team by suspect S together with witness Muhammad Juhar," he said, explaining.

As a result of his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 2 paragraph 1 junto Article 3 junto Article 8 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended and updated by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the eradication of criminal acts of corruption.

Meanwhile, since Wednesday morning, hundreds of residents of Gunung Rancak Village have been sympathizers of the Village Head and Treasurer visiting the Sampang Kejari office.

They did not accept the determination of the suspect to the village apparatus after being examined by investigators as witnesses.

"The determination of the suspect should be more appropriate to be suspected by the channeling bank. Remove the names of the village head and treasurer from this case, our village head is clean, it's just village politics," shouted Ahmad, one of the residents who also came to the Sampang Kejari Office.
