KPU: Topics Of Presidential Candidate Debates Directed In Context 5 Years In The Future

Chairman of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy said the topic of debate for presidential and vice presidential candidates will also be directed to the context of domestic issues in the next five years.

Actually, in the Election Law, there have been topics discussed in the presidential candidate debate. What are the details (later) and then (including) the global situation, regional situation, then the impact on the domestic context in Indonesia within five years of the term of office of the president and vice president," said Hasyim as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, November 29.

Hasyim stated that the topics discussed in the presidential and vice presidential debates include, among others, the financial and economic conditions of the Republic of Indonesia in the future.

According to him, it is important to discuss this in debate, so that the things conveyed factually are in accordance with the facts and in accordance with the conditions faced by Indonesia today and in the next five years.

"So that when compiling a contextual vision-mission program. That's about it," explained Hasyim.

Regarding the holding of the presidential and vice presidential debate, the KPU today will hold a meeting with a number of ministries/agencies and non-governmental organizations, involving media and experts to discuss campaign debate methods that are considered effective and discuss the details of the topics that will serve as material in the presidential debate.

"Later, after this too, this afternoon or afternoon the results of this morning's discussion will also be discussed with the candidate pair team, so that they will be more mature, so that there will be more mature material, including we also discuss panelists, who are the panelists for the debate topics that will be discussed later," he said.

According to Hasyim, the holding of the presidential and vice presidential candidates debate will most likely be held entirely in Jakarta. "There will be one later, either opening or closing at the KPU Office," said Hasyim.
