JAKARTA - The media content provider company owned by Hary Tanoesoedibjo, PT MNC Studios International Tbk (MSIN) has officially started the construction of an outdoor film and drama series studio or Movieland, in the Lido area, West Java, which has recently become a new Special Economic Zone (KEK) by the government.

"Movieland is built to increase local and foreign filmmakers in Indonesia, which have grown rapidly over the past few years. Movieland is intended to be a one-stop facility that will have a significant impact on improving the overall quality of our production", said MNC Studios President Director Ella Kartika in a written statement, which was quoted Tuesday 16 February.

Movieland carries the concept of an integrated film and drama series industry that will be equipped with various production facilities such as outdoor and indoor shooting locations, equipment with world-class technology, ranging from cameras, sound to other sophisticated facilities to support the post-production process.

Ella said Movieland presents various needs for open areas for shooting activities such as residential areas for elite housing, urban settlements, and rural areas supported by other sets such as gas stations, hospitals, bus stops, train stations.

In addition, MNC Studios is also preparing various other areas for the colossal shooting of scenes, where open and flexible areas are located, including areas with royal backgrounds in Indonesia such as the Islamic and Hindu kingdoms also being developed.

Movieland will be built on 21 hectares of land in the MNC Lido City area. The total area of MNC Lido City reaches 3.000 hectares.

Movieland will also have an indoor studio of 1.500 square meters with a giant green screen and other special sets to support the production process of films and drama series.

"The company is also ready to invest time and resources into it to create high-quality content, a move that places MSIN at the forefront of Indonesia's content creation industry. The establishment of Movieland spurs to improve our content production capabilities, as well as quality international standards", said Ella.

Lido is a tourism Special Economic Zone with a business plan to develop attractions including world-class theme parks, golf courses, and retail and dining.

Then, the development of six-star luxury resort accommodation, other star hotels, and the development of the creative economy, namely film studios, and music festivals.

The presence of a theme park that will be built in the Lido is predicted to be able to increase the number of domestic and foreign tourist visits to reach 63.4 million people until 2038 or an average of 3.17 million tourists per year.
