JAKARTA - Papua Police Chief Inspector General Paulus Waterpauw expressed his condolences for the death of soldiers from Infantry Battalion 400/BR who were members of the task force to secure vulnerable areas in Intan Jaya Regency.

"We are sorry for the death of Prada Ginanjar in a firefight with an Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Mamba village, Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, Monday morning", said Inspector General Waterpauw to Antara, in Jayapura Monday, February 15.

Polda Papua will continue to collaborate with Kodam XVII Cenderawasih and task forces to support the police in law enforcement.

Many obstacles are owned by Intan Jaya Regency because it has different characteristics from other areas in the central highlands, namely in addition to geographical location as well as natural conditions where the area is sparsely populated.

"Therefore, an integrated concept of security will be made whereas an area that has a territory and assisted by a task force has a big responsibility", said Waterpauw.

When asked about the challenge of "war" with the KKB, Waterpauw emphasized that the TNI-Police are ready, but can it be certain that the KKB will not involve civilians? asked Waterpauw, adding that if the KKB could be fulfilled, then firm and measured action would be taken.

Currently, the Regional Government of Intan Jaya has prepared a place to accommodate personnel who will be assigned to the area and the Papua Regional Police has also sent operational vehicles to Sugapa.

The operational vehicle is currently in Sugapa and it is hoped that it can facilitate the activities of members in carrying out their duties, said Inspector General of Waterpauw Police.

The body of Prada Ginanjar has now been evacuated to Timika and will be taken to his hometown for burial.
